In the onslaught of new artists emerging at this time of year, you really need to do something special to stand out, and Miami-born singer Kat Dahlia has achieved it. Her debut single Gangsta sounds like nothing I’ve ever heard, yet instantly makes sense as the sound of 2013. From the one photo we have of her, Kat seems to be a typical pretty pop girl, but her voice is raspy and harsh, and her lyrics are brutally honest. If Kat has more songs up her sleeve as strong as this, then I have no doubt that she’s going to be a huge star.
