Georgia is a singer, drummer and producer who recently signed to indie label Domino. Her first single is Move Systems, which gives you a sense of her distinctive sound. I felt that her set needed a bit more light and shade, as all the tracks were quite full on, but it’s great to see a young British female artist doing something creative and unique. There was nothing traditionally “girly” about her performance, but neither did she exhibit the contrived “attitude” and “feistiness” that sometimes seems to be the only other option for female pop singers. I haven’t heard a future hit from Georgia yet, and I wonder if Domino are willing or able to turn her into a commercial star, but I appreciate her individuality.
