When I pick my most poptastic single of each year, I try to go for something that I know I’ll never regret when I look back on my choices in future years. Since this song was hated by many people, including those I usually agree with, I was unsure whether it was a safe choice, but in the end decided that was all the more reason to choose it. I’ve spent the last five months defending this song and I still love it as much as I did on first listen, so I’m going to stick with my decision and make a stand for this misunderstood pop masterpiece!
