Stop the search for the next Florence and the Machine! It turns out she was under our noses the whole time. Violet is the new band fronted by Pixie Geldof, who I thought of as just another hipster socialite until I saw her perform live. She seems to have inherited the music gene from her dad and the charisma of her mother. Her years of celebrity daughter fame have given her a confidence and maturity that she uses to great effect on stage, and most importantly of all Violet’s setlist includes some fantastic pop songs that hit the spot right between Lana Del Rey and the aforementioned Florence.
Violet’s best songs are not yet available to listen to online, and the few indie dream-pop tracks you can hear just don’t do this band justice. Pixie is a pop star and she could soon be far more successful than the other singer that shares her first name if her management Luv Luv Luv (the same people who discovered and manage Florence) play their cards right. And if all else fails, maybe she’ll be able to convince her new pal Harry Styles to play tambourine on one of the tracks.
