The Next Big Thing?

Bruno Mars
Since his success has so far come from guest appearances on other artists’ hits, I’ve known Bruno’s name for months now but only today bothered to look into who he actually is. What sparked this interest, you may wonder? The new video for Billionaire, his song with Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, shows him to be a charismatic, attractive young man with a nice, soulful (yet not too indulgently so) voice. His solo songs are a little bland, but when it comes around to his proper solo single I expect he might come out with something quite special.

Florrie
As the limited mainstream success of Annie and Little Boots has shown, cute blonde electro-pop girls who are the darlings of Hype Machine don’t always do quite so well in the charts. However, with the backing of pop genii (or whatever the plural of genius is) Xenomania, Florrie might stand a little more chance. So far I believe she’s unsigned, but on the basis of a few remixes she has posted online so far, she’s attracting a lot of attention. I’m not a fan of lengthy remixed versions of pop songs but I like Florrie’s sound so look forward to hearing some more compact tracks from her.
