Future Stars: Sunset Sons (Polydor)

Sunset Sons are one of the four acts from the BBC Sound of 2015 longlist that haven’t already been in Future Pop. They’re British and Australian, but met on a beach in France. They originally performed covers to “the snowboarding crowd” in the Alps, but once they started writing original songs they were signed up by Polydor. The music is pretty inoffensive indie-pop. When I Googled them I found I’d listened to On The Road on YouTube before, but had no recollection of it. Their new song Remember (perhaps named in an attempt to be more memorable) sounds like a slightly edgier version of Train, while She Wants could be Maroon 5. The UK doesn’t usually produce acts in that style, so it will be interesting to see how Sunset Sons fare, both here and in the US. P.S. Bonus points for surprise cat in promo photo.
