Future Stars: Shift K3y (Columbia)

Columbia Records have invited another singer/producer/DJ to join Calvin Harris on their roster, presumably to remind him he’s replaceable and he better keep on making those hits! Luckily for Calvin, Shift K3y (aka Lewis Jankel) makes music with more of a garage/house sound. His new single Touch is straight out of 1999, and this may be a crazy comparison, but it reminded me of Give It To You by Jordan Knight. His other tracks range from less instant to barely listenable, but there’s definitely hit-making potential here. Shift K3y’s supporters in the media include Radio 1 and Pitchfork, while he’s been asked to provide remixes for acts such as Tinie Tempah and AlunaGeorge.
