British singer Mae Muller has 189 Twitter followers and is (apparently) unsigned, but I’m featuring her here simply based on an instinct that she’s one to watch. She’s been working on music with producer Two Inch Punch, known for his work with Sam Smith and Rag’n’Bone Man, but don’t lose interest just yet – the results are actually quite intriguing. In the past few months she’s released two singles, Jenny and The Hoodie Song, and an EP called After Hours. Jenny is the standout track for me – a breakup anthem about becoming pals with her two-timing ex’s other girlfriend. The song has an Amy Winehouse or Lily Allen vibe, soulful yet full of personality, and Mae exudes star quality in the video. She’s also signed to Select modelling agency, which should prick up the ears of anyone looking for the next Dua Lipa. She recently appeared in a Burberry campaign with her model boyfriend, Montell Martin. The Hoodie Song was released via AWAL (Kobalt’s label services) but I couldn’t find any details of her current label situation. However, I noted plenty of familiar faces among her few Twitter followers, so if there’s not already a deal on the table, there probably will be soon.
