Kygo is Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, a Norwegian student inspired to make music by fellow Scandinavian, Avicii. He is known for unofficial remixes, such as Ed Sheeran’s I See Fire, which has over 18 million YouTube views. He is expected to sign a big record deal as soon as he finishes his exams. Like Avicii, he juxtaposes electro and acoustic sounds but the result is more subtle and chilled. He had a Hype Machine no.1 with his remix of Let Her Go by Passenger and got discovered by Avicii’s label LE7ELS through a remix contest, which led to them releasing his version of Miami 82 by another of their artists, Syn Cole. Chris Martin and Diplo have also publically joined Kygo’s fanbase. Personally, I think his best track is his fun and poppy take on Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye. I hope when he releases his own originals, they sound like that.
