When I saw Holychild’s video for Happy With Me, I mistook them for a girlband, so it was a bit disappointing to discover they’re actually a girl/boy duo. But they got me back on side when I saw they had cited Robyn and Katy Perry as influences. Happy With Me has an indie-pop sound, but the catchy chorus chant reminds me of Icona Pop – I’d love to hear an Icona-style dance version. The video follows the somewhat dubious trend (see Lily Allen) of showing women being objectified in a ridiculous way to make a feminist point, but the song is good and this is the kind of fun indie-pop that I think we need more of at the moment.
