In Denmark, winning a TV talent show doesn’t require you to record a cover of a little-known track by an American MOR band. Instead, Emilie Esther, the winner of the latest season of The X Factor, got to release an original single written by her mentor Remee and the brilliant Brit Karen Poole. Undiscovered has been on repeat on my iPod since Emilie’s win a few weeks ago. It has that shimmery, angelic electro-pop sound that Scandinavia is so good at, combined with a more mainstream pop power and drive. Emilie is a very cute, blonde 15-year-old with great pop star potential. I think her debut album could turn out to be one of the best of the year ahead.
