I've been following Chlöe Howl on Twitter for about six months, having heard that she was Sony's latest pop signing, but only last week did I finally get to hear any of her music. The first song by Chlöe (who has creatively changed her surname from Howells to Howl) to appear online is a sparky mid-tempo electro-pop number called No Strings. It sounds like a mixture of La Roux (whatever happened to them, by the way?) and Kate Nash, which is fitting as she does have a similar look to Elly Jackson. There's something very mid-'00s about Chlöe in general, but she's definitely channeling the best music of that not-particularly-poptastic era. I'm excited to hear more!
