Future Stars: Blonde (Parlophone/FFRR)

I think Blonde could be the next to benefit from the house-pop trend, following in the footsteps of acts like Disclosure, Gorgon City and Duke Dumont. As the charts become increasingly filled with artists of this genre, the barrier for success gets higher, but Blonde should jump over it easily with their very poptastic new single I Loved You. The track, which is effectively a remix of the minor 90s hit More by Tamia, was originally around last year and received support from Radio 1 among others. It mysteriously disappeared and last week a new, shorter version was uploaded on Soundcloud and YouTube. In the wake of the band’s recent success, signing to Parlophone and taking over the blogs with the songs Higher Ground and Foolish, this new “premiere” of I Loved You made a big splash. This has to be their crossover moment. I only wish it was the debut single of a new female artist – it would have been the beginning of a huge career, for sure.
