I’m a little biased in choosing my Song of the Week this week, as I have been working with Asami Zdrenka for the past few months as part of management company Eye of the Storm. You may know her from Neon Jungle, the girlband who last year scored two top 10 singles and a top 10 album. With Only Love Can Break Your Heart, she’s taken on one of the best electro-pop songs of the early 90s, covering Saint Etienne’s version of the Neil Young original. The song showcases her unique, pure vocals and reimagines the sound of this summery pop classic for 2015, while the video shows her captivating performance and striking look. This is the first in a series of three live covers Asami has recorded, and while I can’t give away what’s yet to come, I will advise you to expect the unexpected! Asami is currently working on her own original music, and these three covers give just a taste of what she has in store.
