I’m not sure if anyone from Estonia has ever had a top 40 hit before, but with a no.1 on the club charts already, it seems like Hannah might be the first. Here’s an interview I did with her recently:
Do you prefer the original or the dance version of Keeping Score?
It’s a difficult choice – I think I like them both actually – but then I would!
Which British singer would you like to think you are the Estonian equivalent of?
I don’t think I am the equivalent of anyone – I am just me and I hope people like my music and my sound. I didn’t set out to be anyone else!
How do the British and Estonian music industries compare to each other?
Obviously the UK music industry is a massive machine and the competition is much fiercer. You can be a great success in your own small country but to make it internationally must be every performer’s goal and dream.
What do you think about being an official ambassador for your country?
It makes me proud to represent them as an ambassador and tell people a little bit about Estonia and how beautiful it is.
The tabloids seem to want to start a rivalry between you and the American pop divas like Beyoncé and Fergie, but what do you really think of them?
I think they’re amazing – there’s no rivalry. Beyoncé is totally awesome.
Which other musicians would you most like to duet with in the future?
Well, Phil Collins would be absolutely the dream come true.
What can we expect from your forthcoming album and which are your favourite tracks?
More good music and songs that capture the heart and make people smile and enjoy my sound. My favourite tracks is a difficult question to answer as each song becomes a favourite for a time while I am working hard on it. Nothing on my album would be there, though, if I didn’t love it.
