I’ve got a review up on the excellent Scandinavian music blog It’s A Trap. I reviewed Colonia, the recent album by A Camp, and you can see what I thought by clicking right here.

New Pop on the Block
Avenue, Danny Saucedo and Kellie Pickler ft. Taylor Swift Avenue – Can You Feel It (Listen)My first thought on hearing the name of the new Avenue single was to wonder if it was a cover of the Jackson 5 hit. They’d be mad to do that, since V (another 5 piece boyband) released a quite… Continue reading New Pop on the Block
Perhaps they can reform as X-otic now?
After I enjoyed researching Danish X Factor so much yesterday, I had a look to see which other countries are currently in the midst of an X Factor series. I was pleased to find that one such country was the Netherlands, one of my favourite places to find new pop music, but nothing could have… Continue reading Perhaps they can reform as X-otic now?
New Pop on the Block
David Guetta ft. Kelly Rowland – Love Takes Over (Listen)After Beyoncé (probably unknowingly) had great success with dance remixes of her less interesting singles in the UK and Europe, Kelly has gone one better, and appears on the new single by one of dance music’s biggest names. It does sound a bit more like a… Continue reading New Pop on the Block
Let’s talk about X, baby!
The Danish final of X Factor was this weekend, and although this group didn’t win, their performance is definitely worth seeing: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiijKxog3Bs&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f&border=1] It’s You’ve Got A Friend… but an electropop version!
Calling all Marit Larsen fans!
The lovely Marit is making what I believe to be her first UK appearance as a solo act in the UK this week. She will be the support act for Jason Mraz in London next weekend. The tickets have all sold out, but you can still get some here. A bit expensive if you only… Continue reading Calling all Marit Larsen fans!
What is the world coming to…
when a band can get this far in their career and not have changed their ungrammatical name? [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cp2ZnBYIyvQ&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca&border=1] I am starting to worry that they could get as far as releasing their single and still be known as “The Yeah You’s”. That would be a very big challenge to my fandom.
Let’s face the musicals… and dance!
After Mamma Mia and HSM 3 were two of last year’s biggest hits, the number of musical films I’m hearing about being in production has sharply increased. Here are a few I’m looking forward to seeing: Hairspray 2: White Lipstick – July 2010 (USA)The follow-up to the brilliant 2007 version of Hairspray looks set to… Continue reading Let’s face the musicals… and dance!
New Indie-Pop on the Block
Hello Saferide – Arjeplog (Watch)Not all Swedish acts make music videos for all of their singles, but so far Hello Saferide have done one for each of the releases from their new album, and I’m very pleased to see it, because they’re such a jolly bunch, and therefore make great videos. Arjeplog is one of… Continue reading New Indie-Pop on the Block
Bumper Album Review Post – Part Three!
This time, Velvet, Adiam Dymott and Kevin Borg… Velvet – The QueenI don’t think Velvet will ever escape playing second fiddle to September in my mind, for 2 reasons: 1. September is much more consistent and never forsakes poptasticness in favour of dancetasticness, and 2. Her voice is much nicer to listen to than Velvet’s.… Continue reading Bumper Album Review Post – Part Three!
