My favourite new discovery this week came from an unexpected source: A Norwegian Eurovision entrant from three years ago. Tooji was born in Iran and grew up in Norway, and he’s apparently a singer, TV host, model, painter and social worker. Many of his songs have a political message and multi-cultural influences. L.Y.S. stands for Love Yourself (so the title should technically be L.Y.) and it’s a gospel-inspired uplifting singalong pop anthem with a random bhangra infusion. Yes, it’s ridiculous, but that’s always a plus in my book.
