The Next Big Thing: an A-Z of 2011 – Part 6

I’ve been from A-Z (or A-Y anyway) but there are still a few new acts that I don’t want to exclude from my list, however I’ve written about them recently so there’s not much to update you on. Here’s my list of 10 more acts you need to watch out for in 2011:

Chasing Pluto (below) – electro-pop duo like Ellie Goulding meets Hurts, some say they’re the new Eurythmics

Emeli Sande – Jazzy female singer from Chipmunk’s Diamond Rings, now solo and working with Miranda Cooper

MNDR – Edgy New York electro-pop duo, featuring the girl from Mark Ronson’s Bang Bang

Parade (below) – New girlband with a Pixie Lott-esque sound who are already building a great online following

Patrick Stump – Fall Out Boy singer with an album out in Feb, preceded by amazing single Spotlight

Rachel Furner – Teenage singer-songwriter who’s like a mini-Marina with a keyboard and some very promising pop songs

Rita Ora – Roc Nation’s new British/Kosovan signing, not to be confused with Kia Ora (that’s a drink)

Spark (above) – Recent Neon Gold signing who’s great live and brings a punky edge to her electro-pop

The Naked & Famous – Best band to come out of New Zealand possibly ever, and could easily soon become the biggest too

Wonderland – Louis Walsh and Kian Egan’s new version of Bellefire featuring Jodi from Girl Thing!

  1. People have been trying to make Chasing Pluto happen for at least two years now in the States. I guess they are still trying…best of luck.

On the other hand, Hyper Crush, who you mentioned in your other post, are really good and got screwed on the label/biz side the past two years. They should have been bigger than LMFAO by now (though agree with you their rapping is not for everyone).

And Naked & Famous are buzzing hard in L.A. right now as well. Everyone WAY into them.
