I’ve come up with a fun new way to review this year’s Melodifestivalen entries: give them awards! Read on to see who won Best Colour Scheme, Best Chorus and more…
NB: I’ve only linked to videos on the songs that didn’t make it through, as the TV channel have a policy to remove all the entries that are successful from YouTube until they are eliminated (or win!).
Best Colour Scheme: Le Kid – Oh My God

Best Choice of Featured Singer (Christoffer Hiding!!): Swingfly – Me & My Drum
Best Entrance: Danny – In The Club
Best Transformation From Previous MF Appearance: Jenny Silver – Something In Your Eyes
There was also one other song, Desperados by Pernilla Andersson, but I haven’t even been able to watch it yet so my award will have to wait until it’s performed again on Andra Chansen (the wildcard round) in a few weeks’ time. Also through to Andra Chansen is Jenny Silver, while Danny and Swingfly are ‘direkt til globen’ i.e. straight to the final. Great for them as I’m a fan of both acts, but it’s a shame that it doesn’t look like Jenny has a real chance of winning (her song would be a great Eurovision entry) and very sad to see the fab Le Kid out of the running already. But as we know that doesn’t mean their song won’t be a chart hit, and they’ve had some fantastic exposure from this so hopefully it will not be a career-ruiner for them.
