Future Stars: SG Lewis (PMR)

I rarely feature electro producer-artists in Future Pop as every electro producer thinks he’s an artist these days, and it’s hard to distinguish between those who are big on the scene and those who’ll achieve mainstream crossover success. But all signs suggest that SG Lewis will fall into the latter camp, especially as his debut headline gig is sold out a month in advance. Following in the footsteps of Disclosure, 20-year-old Sam signed to Method management and PMR Records, and he’s been quietly building a following over the course of 2015. He caught tastemaker attention with the fittingly-named Warm, a cosy, soulful tune he premiered on Soundcloud in February. Other tracks followed, including collaborations with up-and-coming artists Zak Abel and Louis Mattrs, and an official remix of Magnets by Disclosure and Lorde. And last month, he premiered his most commercial and radio-friendly track yet, Shivers featuring JP Cooper. It’s no surprise that he’s got the endorsement of not only Disclosure, but the ultimate producer-artist, Calvin Harris, who just signed SG Lewis to his Fly Eye publishing imprint with Sony ATV.
