Launching a new pop artist without a major label or a TV platform is pretty tough, but Phoebe Ryan is setting a great example. She’s spent the past few years getting ready, so that when her music finally went live online it had the desired, and deserved, effect. Phoebe is an all-American girl – born in Texas, grew up in New Jersey, and now splits her time between LA and New York. Her sound is cutesy twee electro-pop, like Lights and Tegan and Sara. While recording her solo material she collaborated and performed live with a variety of acts, including dance duo Tritonal, New Zealand dubsteppers Mt Eden and rapper Skizzy Mars. She also wrote song for other artists such as Be Okay by Oh Honey, which was covered on Glee. Phoebe has clearly decided 2015 is her year. In January, she shared her first solo song and video, a dreamy mash-up of Ignition by R.Kelly and Do You by Miguel which was a Hype Machine no.1, and followed it a week later with her debut single Mine. The two tracks combined already have over 300,000 Soundcloud plays.
