I first became a fan of Laura Welsh when I discovered her lovely song 45 on Radio 2 back in 2012. I always thought she had potential to reach a younger audience too, and sure enough, since then she has signed to Universal and been re-positioned a little, thanks to her feature on the latest Gorgon City single, Here For You. The collaboration received big support from Radio 1 and reached the top 10 last month. Now Laura is getting ready to release her new solo single, Break The Fall. It’s her most commercial track so far, with strong vocals and impactful production, reminding me of Jetta’s sound. I’m not sure if Laura’s crossover moment is here quite yet, but she’s definitely on the right path. I think a re-release of 45 (which has mysteriously disappeared from all official sites) wouldn’t be a bad idea.
