The next This Must Be Pop Live is now just four days away! We’ll be back at Queen of Hoxton on 10th March with three fantastic female artists: Sophie and the Bom Boms, Rothwell and Jerry Williams. This week I’ll be chatting to each of the performers so you can get to know them a bit better before the show. Today it’s the turn of a female singer with an amazing voice, Rothwell…
How would you describe your music in 5 words?
Raw, Honest, Acoustic, Unique and Emotional
You’ve shared some great acoustic covers on YouTube. Which artist would you most like to hear covering one of your songs?
Would love to hear Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran and Amy Winehouse do their own versions of my originals! Can you imagine? I’d fangirl so hard.
What’s your top tip for singers who want to start writing their own songs?
For me, I think the most important thing is to write songs for yourself. The more you try to please other people and write songs you think other people would like to hear, the less genuine and meaningful they become.
You’re always out performing on the London live scene. Have you discovered any other amazing up-and-coming artists we should know about?
God, I’ve seen some amazing new artists and met some fabulous people. A personal highlight was meeting THE Elvis impersonator at The Spice of Life open mic night. He goes around at the end of his set to shake every member of the audience’s hand and lets you know how impressive he thought his set was. What a babe.
What can we expect from your performance at This Must Be Pop Live?
A whole heap of sass… I’m joking, but I do love to get totes emosh during a show. It’s no fun until someone cries… joking, again.
Tickets for Tuesday’s This Must Be Pop Live are on sale now and you can join the Facebook event to get updates as more details are announced.
