You’ll be my American boy (or girl)

After last year’s dull (talent) and awkward (judges) season, I was concerned about the future of American Idol. Although I’m still unsure whether it’s even possible for the show to reach its 11th season now that X Factor USA is on the horizon, I am enjoying the current series (J.Lo is amazing as a judge) and excited for the live rounds to begin. It doesn’t feel like the potential for the show to create a new superstar is there anymore, but I still have hope that someone among the top 24 will shine through and prove me wrong. Here are a few I think could be the stars of American Idol 2011:

Tim, the pianist who already seems like a fully-formed artist

Scotty, the country boy with a unique voice and endearing personality

Jacob, the crazy camp guy who’s already getting huge hits on YouTube

Thia, the cute young Hawaiian girl with a soulful voice

Lauren, the bubbly blonde all-American girl next door

Casey, the nerdy bloke with a great voice and a way with the cello

  1. I have never been as polarized in a season as I am this time around. I either hate or love the majority of the Top 24. There aren't many that I don't care about either way. For me, that's a good sign.

  2. I don't really feel passionately about anyone yet, although I have 2 faves (Thia and Tim) and there are a few I'm increasingly hating (especially Brett this week). Who are your favourites?
