It’s time to announce the second act for next month’s This Must Be Pop Live! The gig will take place at the Queen of Hoxton on August 21st, and performing alongside Parade will be…
VELVET STREAM!
Velvet Stream are a new pop-rock group made up of four instrument-playing boys and one female lead singer. They’ve been together two years and have built up a following thanks to gigs at Ronnie Scotts, Shoreditch House and even a session for the BBC at Maida Vale. 2012 has been a very exciting year for them so far, as they were voted into the Top 20 for MTV’s Brand New For 2012 Unsigned competition, and now of course they will be performing at This Must Be Pop Live!
The band cite artists such as Patti Smith and the Beach Boys as inspirations, and as you can see from their Selfish Mind video below they’ve definitely captured a retro vibe in their music and performance. I love their colourful, vibrant pop persona and can’t wait to hear more of their new songs when they perform on August 21st.
