Rothwell
Anyone looking for the next Adele needs to check out Rothwell. Her simple, heartfelt songs combined with her smooth yet seriously powerful vocals are destined to get her a lot of attention. Check out her Mahogany Session and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Following the path of artists like Ed Sheeran, Ella Rothwell moved from Bristol to London and performed at open mic nights, determined to get noticed by the music industry. The risk paid off, as she found her management and producers, including new Atlantic signees Toyboy & Robin. And she’s performing to bigger and bigger audiences, recently touring with Macy Gray and with a summer of festivals ahead.

Rothwell’s new single Darling is out now on iTunes, and the video recently premiered, showing the singer in her newly adopted home of London. This follows her 2014 EP Mouthful of Words, featuring four varied yet consistently impressive tracks, including my personal favourite, Let Me Go. I think pop fans will also love her totally different but brilliant (almost Motowny!) take on What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction, and she lists Taylor Swift among her favourite artists, so she’s clearly one of us. I can’t wait to see Rothwell showing off her talents in person at This Must Be Pop Live, and hope you’ll join me there so we can all say we knew her before she was famous!
