This Must Be Pop Live: The line-up is complete!

This Must Be Pop Live returns to London’s Queen of Hoxton on 1st Dec to kick off the countdown to Christmas. Join us from 8pm to see three live acts who’ll be doing big things in 2015, and enjoy a poptastic DJ set including some Christmas classics, plus some extra festive treats! So far I’ve announced two acts, talented teen star Jasmine Thompson and retro-pop singer-songwriter Georgia Mason, and now it’s time to reveal the final act who will be joining them at This Must Be Pop Live…

IVY & GOLD

Ivy & Gold are a duo made up of Rachel Wilkinson and Jamie Davies, who make ethereal, emotional indie-electro-pop music. Their songs are unique and powerful, thanks to Rachel’s emotive vocals and lyrics, and Jamie’s production skills. They will appeal to fans of acts like Bat For Lashes, Florence and the Machine and London Grammar. I’ve been following their progress for a couple of years after spotting them on YouTube, and their music has really come into its own with their latest EP, Smoke and Mirrors. My particular favourites are Behind the Mask (a previous Song of the Week) and Animals.

Rachel cites her influences as strong, distinctive female vocalists such as Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Lana Del Rey, while Jamie takes inspiration from producers like Alex Da Kid and Ryan Tedder, whose music is commercial yet still innovative and gutsy. You can certainly hear these interests merging in the results of their collaboration as Ivy & Gold. I saw them recently performing a beautiful set in a church, so I’m excited to see them again and share the musical discovery with the This Must Be Pop audience!
