Future Stars
Nothing has been officially announced yet, but Mahalia is believed to have signed to Ed Sheeran's imprint within Atlantic Records. Don't let that put you off, though – this girl is a star! She's only got one great song, Camden Town, and one pleasant song, Let The World See The Light, but she's got a fantastic voice and is an excellent live performer for her age. At 13 years old, she's on track to be the next Birdy, but this folk-pop prodigy actually seems to have the confidence and star quality to handle fame. As long as she has a few hits on her debut album, Mahalia has a chance be the next big teen sensation.
While they were presented as though they were the next Rizzle Kicks on Britain's Got Talent, Loveable Rogues are actually just a marginally more attractive Scouting For Girls. That doesn't mean they won't be as big as Rizzle Kicks though – the average Britain's Got Talent musical merchandise buyer doesn't care about cool, after all. A pop act has never been launched from BGT before, but Loveable Rogues definitely have the best chance yet. If they release their catchy signature song Love Sick ASAP it could be a big hit, but they'll need to hurry if they don't want to be forgotten.
If you're looking for 2012's big summer novelty hit, Sam and the Womp's new single Bom Bom could be a good bet. The unique multi-national group, who are already known on the festival circuit, are influenced by genres including ska, reggae and dubstep, but Bom Bom is definitely pop. It's already had support from Radio 1's daytime and dance shows, and soundtracks a new advert for Southern Comfort. Interestingly, one of the band members is Aaron Horn, son of Trevor Horn, so he has catchy novelty pop in his blood. Could Bom Bom be the next Video Killed The Radio Star?
