I recently discovered this song soundtracking the trailer to a new film, Amira & Sam. The Wind and the Wave are Dwight Baker and Patricia Lynn, a Texan folk-pop duo with an emphasis on the pop. They seem to have a penchant for very long song titles, as It’s a Longer Road to California Than I Thought shares space on their album with tracks such as My Mama Said Be Careful Where You Lay Your Head. My Mama Said is very jolly and fun, but It’s a Longer Road has a real pop sensibility. It sounds like what Avril Lavigne might do if she decided to grow old gracefully.
