Youth is a topic covered exhaustively in pop music, and I find that it’s often characterised too dramatically, glamourising the reckless, rebellious side. Young Hearts, the new single by Australian band Strange Talk, is a more idealised, fun and sweet representation, and it might smooth over the edges a bit but who says music has to be realistic? I think making people happy is more important. Strange Talk have already had a few hits at home and I think this song, their most mainstream so far, will help them break through in the rest of the world. They will release their debut album Cast Away internationally this year.
