Future Stars: Naomi Pilgrim (Cosmos Music)

It’s got to the point now where discovering a new female Swedish indie-pop girl with great songs is almost boring, because it’s so unsurprising. However, there’s nothing boring about Naomi Pilgrim’s self-titled debut EP. Each of the three tracks is as strong and well-constructed as the last. Naomi is in the Lykke Li vein (fittingly, as she used to be her backing singer), though there are hints of Robyn in the beautiful and unusual No Gun. Naomi is also part Bajan, so we may hear some Caribbean influences in her future releases, but for now she’s sounding distinctly Scandinavian.
