Song of the Week: Sophia Somajo – Klein Blue

It’s hard to understand what Sophia Somajo is singing in her new single Klein Blue, but it’s only annoying because the song is so good, and I really want to sing along. Swedish singer Sophia has been making quality pop for several years, sometimes under the name SoSo. I enjoyed her cover of Cody Chesnutt’s My Women, My Guitars, and she also featured on the fantastic Kids by Style of Eye. However, Klein Blue is undoubtedly her best solo single, and she seems to be finally realising her potential. Making music that sounds strange and unique but still has a powerful pop core is a Scandi speciality, and Sophia certainly has that skill. I think Klein Blue would appeal to fans of Susanne Sundfør, and I’m hoping Sophia’s next album will be as well-received and obsession-worthy as Ten Love Songs.
