Shura is an English/Russian female solo artist, who is one of many artists recently to become “Internet famous” overnight thanks to Soundcloud and the music blogging scene. Her song Touch, the first she has posted on Soundcloud, got 100k plays in its first week, which attracted international record label and publishing interest according to Record of the Day. She premiered a simple yet slick music video for the track last week, which attracted yet more attention as it features same-sex smooching. As for the music itself, Touch is cool, pretty and sultry, combining the electro-R&B trend with a classic, melodic sound that reminds me of Haim. It’s certainly very current and competent, but for me it’s not too memorable, so I’ll await more from Shura before making my official judgement.
