Rory Graham, better known as Rag ’N’ Bone Man, doesn’t look like a pop star, but his image gives his imposing music even more gravitas. His sound is gritty and soulful, but there’s still a well-written song underneath the heartfelt growl of his songs. Fans of Hozier’s stunning Take Me To Church should enjoy Life In Her Yet, while No Mother has a Jamie ’N’ Commons vibe, with its heavier production. The breakthrough hit, however, could be the dark and dramatic Lay My Body Down. Rag ’N’ Bone Man has been on the music scene for a while, providing vocals for a rap collective called Rum Committee, but now he’s solo and recently released his debut EP. He is signed to indie label Best Laid Plans, but with support from Radio 1 and a sold-out London gig, a major label deal is surely on the cards.
