Maty Noyes sounds a lot like Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez on her new song Spiraling Down, and it would have been a great single for either of them. It does the Spotify-inspired trick of starting with the chorus (to stop us skipping), which means by the middle of the song you already feel like it’s a familiar favourite and you have a strong urge to sing along. Not only is the chorus the definition of infectious, but the track is full of witty, sassy lines. Lava Records artist Maty (short for Madeline) is best known for her single In My Mind and her Kygo collaboration, Stay, plus she can be heard on the Weekend song, Angel. She’s yet to have any chart hits in her own right, which suggests her major label days are numbered, but I hope she’ll keep giving us tunes like this either way. She’s still only 20 so she has plenty of time to make it big.
