Unsigned Month: Jacob Banks

Jacob Banks is a soulful singer-songwriter who is the latest protegée of the management team behind Wretch 32. He’s got the natural talent, but what he needs are the commercial hit-worthy songs and an exciting marketing campaign to make him succeed where similar acts like Josh Osho so far haven’t. Jacob is already beginning to make a name for himself in the urban scene, having received the MOBO Unsung award for undiscovered artists last year.

Jacob also won a competition called Are You In, run by Adidas, which gave him the chance to collaborate with Plan B, and the pair were reunited a few months ago when Jacob supported Plan B at the 100 Club. There is little of Jacob’s music online so far, apart from acoustic videos, but the first taster track Kids on the Corner is ticking all the “buzz single” boxes, including support from Zane Lowe on Radio 1.
