What an exciting morning! I turned on Radio 1, as I actually very rarely do, and what song should be playing but… Show Me What I’m Looking For by Carolina Liar! This is one of the very best songs I heard last year, and their album is equally excellent. However, they appeared to have no fans whatsoever (apart from me) until earlier this year when they performed Show Me on 90210. After that they started to get some more interest from the Americans and now the song is being released as their UK debut.
There are some acts which I hear and I love them, but I know they’ve no chance of actual success. Yet Carolina Liar are one of the few who I love personally, and I think have the potential to be huge. Show Me truly has mass appeal, and there’s an album full of equally great songs to follow it up with and cement them as one of the biggest bands of 2009. Best of all, it’s another triumph for Max Martin, who, if Carolina Liar become as huge as I think they could, will then be able to say he has conquered the one area of pop music he doesn’t already rule, the serious rock-pop man-band. Ryan Tedder, you are about to be dethroned.
Now when are they touring the UK? I NEED to see this band live! Please let me know if you hear anything.
