Song of the Week: Emilie Esther – Inescapable

There was a time when I thought RedOne could be the next Max Martin, but sadly he hasn’t been able to adapt to the changing musical trends in the same seamless way as Max. Most of his recent productions have been lacklustre, but Inescapable is a big improvement. It’s the follow-up to Danish X Factor winner Emilie Esther’s debut single Undiscovered, which I also featured as a Song of the Week. Inescapable has a few familiar RedOne noises and production techniques, but it sounds current and deservedly topped the iTunes chart in Denmark. It’s an anthemic electro-pop power ballad, which shows off 16-year-old Emilie’s sweet yet strong vocals. I’d love to see an artist like her win The X Factor in the UK.
