One of the catchiest new songs of 2018 so far has to be Doja Cat’s latest single, Go To Town, though you may not want to sing along in the car with your parents. The sassy song has a fittingly cheeky and colourful video with definite Nicki Minaj vibes, though Doja Cat definitely fits more in the Tumblr-pop scene than the hip-hop world. Amala Zandile Dlamini is an LA native who had her first taste of success at age 18 when her song So High went viral. At the time, she wasn’t quite ready to capitalise on her newfound fame, but a few years in development has done wonders. Now aged 21, she just released her debut album, Amala. There isn’t much hype about it yet unfortunately, but with RCA US and Roc Nation on board, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of her in the year ahead.
