We haven’t seen any real success stories from The Voice UK so far, but that might be about to change, in a rather unexpected way. Do you remember the stroppy teen from the first series, Becky Hill? She didn’t make the final, but after the show she started recording with various UK producers, including MNEK and Rudimental. She ended up featuring on a track by Wilkinson (Afterglow, no.8 in 2013) and she signed to Parlophone a few months ago. She’s also on Rudimental’s new single, Powerless, and often performs live with them. Like all these new artists trying to launch their careers through a feature, we’ll have to wait and see if her solo music is as good, but she’s certainly in a better position than Leanne Mitchell.

Personally I think that Becky Hill is not only one of if not THE most overall talented artists to appear on The Voice UK, but that she’s also a shining example to other new artists.
Becky clearly has what it takes in terms of talent as well as self-motivation, resourcefulness, charisma, resolve, determination, positive attitude… She merits success and a bountiful long-term career. She has worked hard and dilligently in creating an effective opening for herself in the music industry, and I wish her all the best of good things for her future.
We’ll be seeing a lot more of Becky in the future; mark my words, because this lady is a true star in the making.
