Over the past few days I’ve been planning who to see at this week’s Great Escape festival in Brighton. More on that on the blog soon, but for now I want to introduce one of the acts I discovered, who quickly became my new obsession. Delta Rae are described as a folk rock band, but they take major inspiration from country and gospel, and the resulting sound is definitely what I would call pop. Their latest single Scared is a unique, theatrical take on pop, but it’s If I Loved You from their 2013 EP Chasing Twisters that I can’t get out of my head. It’s a powerful country-pop anthem with a sing-along chorus and a refreshingly honest lyrical theme. The fact that it features Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac on guitar says a lot about Delta Rae and their place in the music scene. If a modern take on Fleetwood Mac sounds like something that would appeal to you, as it does to me, then you must listen to If I Loved You.

Please be sure to give us a write-up on this band after the festival. Specifically, does their live performance measure up to the studio work?
