If there’s one unreleased album I’d love to hear, it’s that of Pete Wentz’s reggae-electro-pop band Black Cards. I saw them perform a great live set in London, but they split and the album was shelved. I now realise the key to the songs’ quality must have been lead singer Bebe Rexha. She went on to write the no.1 The Monster by Eminem and Rihanna (based on her rap-free demo), and great songs for herself such as Problem Child and Comeback Kids. Her only hit as an artist so far is a feature on Take Me Home by electro-pop band Cash Cash, but she’s working on her debut solo album. I hope that the lacklustre careers of other songwriters-turned-artists like Skylar Grey and Bonnie McKee won’t hold Warner Bros back from giving her their full support.
