A collaboration between two of the most influential men in music quietly went to US radio last week. Who Is Fancy is a new artist signed by Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta. Even if the single, Googbye, was terrible, I’d still be predicting a hit (tweets from Taylor, Justin and Ariana alone should be enough to get it into the charts). Actually, unsurprisingly, the song is very good. Who Is Fancy seems to be a male solo singer. He has a warm soulful voice and his music is catchy mid-tempo pop with a warm, gospel vibe. I only hope that the mystery around his real identity (no information or photos are available, but a social media campaign promoting the track has been online since August) is not a ploy to make up for the artist behind this excellent single’s lack of star quality. I doubt it will take long for us to find out – once Goodbye officially impacts radio on 10th Feb the hunt will begin, and you can’t hide much from the Internet these days. I’ve already found a few clues: the artist was previously called just Fancy, co-writers include Steph Jones and multiple versions of the music video have been shot.
