Starley has a top 40 hit in 6 countries and just entered the Spotify global chart at no.25, plus she featured on one of the biggest dance hits of the summer in her home country of Australia. But I have to wonder how many people know she’s a girl… or even a singer. I suspect many, like me, assume on first listen that Starley is a DJ/producer (or a bike shop). Her uplifting single Call On Me went viral on Spotify last month thanks to a remix by fellow Aussie Ryan Riback. The remix went from 2 million to 13.5 million plays in a week, and it’s now on 30 million. Although originally signed to Universal in Australia, Starley has broken with convention and signed with Sony in the US, perhaps due to her management Insanity having a partnership with Sony here in the UK.
