Future Stars: Skott (Chess Club/B3SCI)

Last week I featured Irish singer Eden, who had benefited from an endorsement by Lorde, and this week I can introduce another of her recently recommended artists. Skott is Swedish (which means her name must be pronounced “Shot”), and as Breaking More Waves recently wrote, she’s one of the increasingly rare breed of blog buzz acts. New single Wolf is riding high on Hype Machine with 25 posts and counting, including all the big names of the pre-streaming influencer crowd – Pigeons and Planes, Line of Best Fit, DIY and the rest. Fittingly, Wolf was released by B3SCI (an indie label attached to a blog) in the US, although RCA imprint Chess Club have nabbed it for the UK. It’s a pleasant song, but previous single Porcelain (a former Annie Mac Hottest Record) was much stronger in my opinion. Skott will play her first ever live show this month at Gothenburg’s Way Out West festival, before visiting London for gigs at… yep, you guessed it… Notting Hill Arts Club and Birthdays. Oh and she won’t tell us her real name, just to ensure she ticks ALL the blog buzz boxes.
