London electro producer Sigala caught my attention when I heard Easy Love, his remix of ABC by The Jackson 5, on Radio 1 last week. Like many others, I frantically grabbed my phone, and the track trended worldwide on Shazam. Not only is ABC my favourite Jackson 5 song, but I also love the super-cheesy (and probably considered sacrilegious) cover by American Juniors, the US version of S Club Juniors. I liked how American Juniors made an already cute and childish song even more exuberant, and Easy Love has the same uplifting effect. It’s part of a trend I’m calling “Kygoing” i.e. remixing a song in the style of Kygo. Kygoing makes anything sound like a summer beach party, and Easy Love is an undeniable hit… though I suspect my enthusiasm may have declined a bit by its September release date.
