Whenever Royal Blood or The Royal Concept are mentioned I always think “that’s the band who did that brilliant song Wild,” but it’s not… then one day I was watching American Idol and the actual Royal Teeth turned up! They were invited by Harry Connick Jr, a fellow Louisiana native, as this year each of the judges has chosen a new act they’re a fan of to perform on the results show. They put on a great show, making the most of the chance to showcase their best song to a huge audience. I only knew them for their music beforehand, but they proved to be an interesting live act combining the vocals of an indie-geek male singer and folky red-haired female in a colourful and energetic performance. Their rise to success has been extremely gradual, but I hope the exposure provided by American Idol will be a turning point.
