Lo-Fi-Fnk are a Swedish trio who (as a duo at the time) released some great electro-pop songs with a very distinctive sound in the mid-2000s, such as City and Steppin Out. I’d almost forgotten about them until I stumbled upon the title track from their new album on Soundcloud. Nightclub Nirvana is a euphoric and extremely infectious tune which may be the best thing they’ve ever done. They’ve updated their sound to fit the 2010s – this would have made a brilliant Icona Pop song – though it will certainly appeal to fans of the Pet Shop Boys and Erasure too. I hope it is released as a single, and becomes the gay club anthem it truly deserves to be.
