I’ve been a fan of Kyla La Grange since hearing Walk Through Walls in 2011, but she’s never quite had her moment. She started off as a Kate Bush-esque belter of dark, dramatic anthems on debut album Ashes, then took a side-step into quirky electro-pop with the follow-up Cut Your Teeth in 2014. Awareness of Kyla’s music grew last year when the song Cut Your Teeth was remixed by Kygo. His version has an incredible 48 million plays on Spotify. Now’s her chance to capitalise on this success, and hopefully turn awareness into a real fanbase. With So Sweet, the lead single from her forthcoming third album, Kyla brings together all the best bits of her past releases, and uses her songwriting skills to appeal to a more mainstream audience. It’s her most poptastic work so far, and I’m told the next two singles are also very strong, so I’m looking forward to hearing more.
