Song of the Week: King Deco – Castaway

My favourite musical discovery of the past week is Castaway by King Deco, which I found on the brilliant H&M In Store Music playlist on Spotify. I’d decided I loved it before I even reached the chorus, because its youthful, summery electro-pop sound is like a mix of Chvrches, Zara Larsson and Ace of Base – all acts I love, and I’m sure you do too. King Deco is female singer Dana Salah, who was born in the Middle Eastern country of Jordan and moved to New York as a teenager. She previously put out an EP through London-based independent label Night Beach Records, and Castaway is her latest single, self-released last month. Although she has learned to produce and engineer her own music, she’s also been collaborating with a promising list of producers known for their work with other Future Pop featured artists, including Kinetics & One Love (Melanie Martinez), Felix Snow (Kiiara) and Larzz Principato (Halsey).
